US 395 & 6 Corridor Plan
Caltrans District 9 is developing a Corridor Management Plan for US Routes 395 and 6 — spanning the high desert, Owens Valley, Eastern Sierra, and Mono Basin regions across Kern, Inyo, and Mono Counties. US 395 connects communities from Johannesburg (Kern County) to Topaz (Mono County), while US 6 runs from Bishop (Inyo County) to the Nevada State Line.
Overview
As part of the corridor planning outreach program, a series of engagement activities will be conducted throughout the planning process. As a first step two surveys are currently open for input:
- Expert Stakeholder Survey — for partner agencies, tribal governments, and subject matter experts to validate the key improvement opportunities and visions identified through the scoping effort
- Community Survey — for residents, travelers, and anyone who uses US 395 or US 6 to share their experience and vision for the future of these highways
The comment period for both surveys is open from September 1 through October 31, 2026. Aggregated survey results will be shared on this portal as they become available.
