Plan Description

Caltrans District 9 is developing a Corridor Management Plan for US Routes 395 and 6 traversing Kern, Inyo, and Mono Counties — connecting communities including Johannesburg, Ridgecrest, Lone Pine, Independence, Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, Lee Vining, Bridgeport, Walker, Coleville, Benton, Hamill Valley, and Chalfant — and as part of this effort, expert and stakeholder input is being sought through this survey.

Key improvement opportunities and visions have been identified for five user groups: 

• Residents & Communities,
• Freight, Goods Movement & Essential Services,
• Tourists & Recreation Users,
• Tribal Communities & Indigenous Peoples, and
• Ecosystem & Wildlife.

As a stakeholder or expert, your input helps prioritize these findings and identify any additional opportunities not yet captured. The plan addresses the following improvement areas: 

• traffic safety and highway design,
• freight and essential services reliability and ZEV infrastructure,
• active transportation and complete streets,
• tribal access and co-design,
• tourism and recreation access, and
• wildlife and ecological stewardship.

This survey is one of a series of engagement activities planned as part of the corridor planning outreach program. Aggregated survey results will be shared on this portal as they become available.
