Calexico East Land Port of Entry Joint Operations Systems
Calexico East Land Port of Entry Joint Operations Systems
The Calexico East Land Port of Entry (POE) Joint Operations System Project seeks to improve traffic flow and reduce border wait times at the Calexico East Port of Entry along State Route 7 (SR-7) in Imperial County. This project will allow commercial vehicle traffic to schedule border crossings in advance, provide up-to-the-minute wait time updates for northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) travelers, and upgrade communication tools along SR-7, I-8, and I-10 to improve traffic operations. These enhancements will streamline trade, improve safety, and reduce idling emissions.
Description:
The Calexico East Land Port of Entry (POE) Joint Operations System Project will introduce the first appointment system for commercial vehicles at a U.S.-Mexico land border port of entry. This system will allow truck drivers to reserve a designated crossing time at the Calexico East POE, reducing congestion and wait times. The project will also improve communication by providing real-time border wait times through a mobile app. By streamlining cross-border commerce, this initiative will support trade, enhance efficiency, reduce emissions, and benefit the historically underserved community of Calexico.
