Welcome

Overview:

Caltrans proposes to preserve, repair, and extend the service life of the existing pavement and improve ride quality on State Route 58 from post mile R99.4 to R107.7 in Kern County, California. The pavement within the project limit is showing distress and deterioration. If degredation continues, it will decrease the ride quality and service life of the existing roadway.

Schedule:

  • Draft Environmental Document released: October 12th, 2025
  • Public Comment Period: October 12th, 2025 — November 12th, 2025
  • Final Environmental Document signed: January 15th, 2025

What happens next:

After comments are received from the public and the reviewing agencies, Caltrans may: 1) give environmental approval to the proposed project, 2) do additional environmental studies, or 3) abandon the project. If the project is given environmental approval and funding is appropriated, Caltrans could design and construct all or part of the project.
