Caltrans is working to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety for all users of Highway 1 in Valley Ford, as part of the Sonoma County Highway 1 Bike and Pedestrian Safety Improvements planning study. Help us prioritize safety measures in this area!

This phase of the planning study focuses on Highway 1 through Valley Ford. This outreach effort and planning study is conducted in partnership with Sonoma County and the California Coastal Commission.

Technical Safety Study: Summer/ Fall 2025

The completed technical study of the planning area determined feasible and buildable bike and pedestrian safety improvement options.

This technical safety study will be used in coordination with public outreach and engagement to inform a future planning effort in collaboration with Sonoma County and the California Coastal Commission.
