During Phase 2 of the Vision 980 Study, Caltrans is evaluating the feasibility of removing some or all of the I-980 Freeway. While no decisions have been made yet, based on Phase 1, removal was the scenario that community members were most interested in learning more about.
Overview:
Phase 2 of the Vision 980 Study is evaluating the feasibility of removing some or all of the Interstate (I) - 980 Freeway. While no decisions have been yet for the future of the corridor, based on Phase 1, removal of the freeway was the scenario that community members were most interested in learning more about. Phase 2 will include validation of Phase 1 data; continued public engagement; traffic pattern analysis and modeling; technical, financial, market, legal, and political feasibility; development of corridor concepts; phasing implications; and potential funding strategies.
