Project Overview

Project consists of the following proposed improvements:

• Construction of 10,090 linear feet of sidewalk to provide continuous and reliable pedestrian pathways.
• Installation of 27 curb ramps to improve accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
• Development of 73 driveways to facilitate safe entry and exit for vehicles and pedestrians.
• Addition of 2,500 linear feet of bike lanes to encourage cycling and enhance safety for cyclists.

These targeted improvements represent a strategic investment in active transportation. By advancing the quality and accessibility of infrastructure, the project seeks to foster a safer and more inclusive environment for all members of the community, supporting healthier and more sustainable modes of travel.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to provide a pedestrian and bicyclists active transportation infrastructure and bring the facility into compliance with Federal, State, and Departmental standards for accessibility.

Need:

This complete street project is needed to mitigate the lack of active transportation facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling within the underserved communities of Kettleman, and Buttonwillow.

Cost: The escalated construction capital is $5,900,000 and the total escalated Right of Way capital outlay cost is $507,000.
