Project Description
The proposed project will reconfigure the westbound SR-120 on-and off-ramps from a tight diamond configuration (Type L-1) to a loop on-ramp and diagonal off-ramp configuration (Type L-7). The improvements are expected to improve traffic operations by installing traffic signals at the ramp intersections, widen the eastbound on-and off-ramps and widen Guthmiller Rd to four 12-foot-wide travel lanes. The project will also include two 6-foot-wide bike lanes and one 8-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of Guthmiller Rd. The improvements are needed to accommodate anticipated travel demand due to the ongoing development in the area including the South Lathrop Specific Plan (SLSP) and Lathrop Gateway Business Park Specific Plan (LGBPSP). The interchange is a major entry to, and exit from, the southern portion of Lathrop, which is approved for industrial commercial development. This connection is a critical link to SR-120 for the City of Lathrop and surrounding development.
The Project is expected to:
- Improve local access to SR-120
- Improve regional mobility on SR-120
- Relieve congestion on SR-120, improve traffic operations and accommodate anticipated travel demand during peak hours
- Allow the City to continue plans for growth and expansion for economic vitality
